Matthew J. SaboMatthew J. Sabo, DPM FACFAS created The Foot and Ankle Wellness Center of Western Pennsylvania in 2007 to serve the Armstrong, Butler and surrounding counties with all their foot and ankle needs.  Dr. Sabo earned his Bachelor of Science degree at East Stroudsburg University in pre-medicine in 1997, graduating in an accelerated pre-medicine program.  He continued his education at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine where he earned his medical degree in 2000.  While at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Sabo received an award for academic excellence.  He then went on to complete a forefoot and rearfoot reconstructive surgical residency program at Saint Agnes Medical Center in Philadelphia.

Dr. Sabo has served as a delegate and vice president of the Pennsylvania Podiatric Medical Association Erie Northwest division.  He has spoken at numerous conferences and has contributed chapters to the Hershey Board Certification Review manual as well as articles in podiatric medical journals. He currently serves as the associate director of research at The Snyder Institute of Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. Dr. Sabo currently serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. 

Dr. Sabo has been serving the Armstrong, Butler and surrounding counties since 2002.  He is Board Certified in foot and ankle surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and member of the American Podiatric Medical Association.  Founding member and Fellow of both American Society of Podiatric Surgeons and the Academy of Physicians in Wound Healing.  He currently serves as a reconstructive foot and ankle surgical instructor at Heritage Valley – Beaver.  A PMSR/RRA-36 program with a 361-bed acute care hospital located in Beaver, Pennsylvania. 

Dr. Sabo specializes in reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle, complex wound care, limb salvage, research and podiatric care.

Steven Schaeffer, DPM

Podiatrist in Butler & Monaca, PA

The Foot and Ankle Wellness Center of Western Pennsylvania

Steven SchaefferSteven Schaeffer, DPM is our most recent addition to The Foot and Ankle Wellness Center of Western Pennsylvania.  Dr. Schaeffer comes to us from his hometown of Hershey, PA.  Prior to attending college, Dr. Schaeffer served a mission for his church in the country of New Zealand. 

Following this, he then earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT in 2008.  Upon graduation, he attended podiatry school at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio.  It was during these years that his love for the profession grew.  Dr. Schaeffer continued his clinical and surgical education and training and recently completed a forefoot and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgical residency program through the Heritage Valley Beaver Podiatric Residency Program. 

Dr. Schaeffer is excited to join us in our Monaca, PA office and serve the members of the community with their foot and ankle needs.

Maureen Elizabeth Heurich, DPM

Podiatrist in Butler & Monaca, PA

Dr. Maureen Heurich, DPM is our newest addition to the Foot and Ankle Center of Western Pennsylvania. Dr. Heurich will be joining our Grove City office. Although she hails from Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Heurich has thought of Western Pennsylvania as her second home since her years at Allegheny College in Meadville. After graduation, Dr. Heurich attended Scholl College of Podatric Medicine in Chicago. She then spent three years in Residency at St Vincent Charity Medical Center in Cleveland, one of the top podiatric surgical training programs in the country.

Dr. Heurich has been thoroughly trained in the treatment of complex foot deformities, diabetic limb salvage, adult and pediatric reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, total ankle replacement, arthroscopy, and trauma surgery. She is excited to return home to Western Pennsylvania and looks forward to treating members of the local community for all of their foot and ankle needs.

Jacqueline Sabo, RN

Jacqueline SaboJacqueline Sabo, RN joined The Foot and Ankle Wellness Center of Western Pennsylvania in 2008.  Mrs. Sabo earned her nursing degree at the Community College of Philadelphia.  During her studies she performed multiple direct patient cares ranging from maternity, pediatric, geriatric, medical and surgical care.  She was awarded the United States Department of Health and Human Services Nursing Scholarship for Health Professions in 1997.  She was also awarded in 1998 the William E and Theresa M. Rubert Memorial Trust Scholarship at Hahnemann University.   She earned her certified registered nursing degree in 1998.

Mrs. Sabo then became certified in Telemetry, Phlebotomy and PICC/Midline insertion while nursing at Saint Agnes Medical Center in Philadelphia. Also while nursing at Saint Agnes Medical Center she became head nurse of burn and general surgery under Dr. John Millili, M.D.

Currently Mrs. Sabo is the Safety Director of Armstrong County Memorial Hospital’s Snyder Institute Hyperbaric Oxygen Center.  She is currently board certified as a hyperbaric registered nurse.   She is also, office manager and director of The Foot and Ankle Wellness Center of Western Pennsylvania.

Sandra L. Kapp, RN CWCN CFCN

Sandra L. KappSandra Kapp, RN CWCN CFCN has been a Registered Nurse since 1990. She is a graduate of Citizen's General Hospital, School of Nursing. She started her nursing career at ACMH as a staff nurse, and has continued her nursing experience in home care for the past 18 years. To better serve her patients she became certified in wound care in 2000 and continues to maintain this certification. She recently added to her ability to care for her patients by becoming certified in Foot and Nail care. Sandi is also the liaison for the Armstrong County branch of The United Ostomy Association of America. She continues to be involved in home care as a clinical wound care consultant, and a CWCN for a local wound care center.
